Indianapolis Airport Sensory Rooms

We recently took a family trip out west to explore the state of Utah. Our girls thrive on their daily routines. They like to know exactly what’s happening each day, and would prefer if each day were like the previous one. Unfortunately, travel can be very unpredictable, and this causes them to become dysregulated easily.

Thankfully, our home airport in Indianapolis has two different sensory rooms that provide much needed sensory breaks and structure to our travel days. There are rooms available just past security in both the A and B terminals. After the chaos of metal detectors, bag scanners, and TSA lines, the sensory room is our first stop.

The girls love playing with the toys in the room and enjoy the quiet space to regroup before we board our flight. As of July 2025, the sensory rooms even offer travel bags that include a fidget spinner, a popper, a book, and headphones! Each room also has a restroom attached. Inside the restroom, the airport has provided an adjustable adult changing table and some diapering supplies as well. We are so thankful to have this private space to care for our girls in a dignified way. Other airports, please take note!

Thank you, IND Airport, for providing this space to make our travel day just a little less crazy!
